Blackest Emmy's yet!

So yesterday Viola Davis won an Emmy for best lead actress in a drama series!  I believe that's an incredible milestone for all black women everywhere.  I'm so glad we are slowly but surely changing to narrative for the standard of beauty and what it means to be a female lead on television.  I believe that's also what Viola said. My naija sistah, Uzo Aduba also won an emmy for best supporting actress in Orange is the new black and Regina King won for her supporting role in American Crime. Just a few years ago we had very little black role models or television shows that highlighted what it means to be black. We had absolutely zero black leading roles in racially diverse television shows such as those created by Shonda Rhimes. You can't help but be ecstatic for the advancements in years to come.

Hollywood Dreams

I have wanted to become a professional actress ever since I realized that I had such a talent. There is nothing like being on stage,  hearing an applause, laughter or even just the silence during a serious moment.  I live for it.  But are we just supposed to give up on our dreams because they seem unlikely or far fetched? I still battle with this every day. But in my mind now I think "what's stopping you, Vivian? Why can't you follow your dreams?" Anyway here's a list of famous Nigerian actors in Hollywood. There are even some they left out but I found it inspirational.
